Injury Accident Leads To Drug Arrests In Crawford County

CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH - An unknown injury accident resulted in one transported and drugs seized in Crawford County. 

On February 17th at 3:44 PM, deputies from the Crawford County Sheriffs Office responded to an unknown injury accident on US 30 east of State Route 598. 

A black 2004 Acura car had driven off the right side of the roadway and down into a ditch. The three occupants of the vehicle were the driver, 22-year-old Cristian Matos of Milwaukee, Wisconson and passengers 34-year-old Jose Cardona of Milwaukee, Wisconson, and 22-year-old Bryan Quinones of Kissimmee, Florida. 

Cardona had unknown injuries and was transported to Galion Community Hospital by Portsmouth EMS. 

Deputies were able to find a 9mm Taurus Firearm and a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson firearm inside the vehicle. Also recovered was 1789 blue pills, suspected of being Oxycodone Hydrochloride. The street value of the of pills exceeds $60,000. 

The driver and passengers were arrested for possession of drugs. 

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office and the METRICH Enforcement Unit continue to investigate the incident. The case is also currently being reviewed by the Crawford County Prosecutor's Office.

Jefferson Township Fire Department, The Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Portsmouth EMS assisted on scene.

  • Woman Shot To Death, Man Arrested In Ashland

    A 40-year-old man was arrested in the shooting death of a 33-year- old woman at the Stony Creek Apartments in Ashland shortly early Monday morning. Ashland Police say officers were dispatched to apartment B at 230 Mathews Avenue at 1:49 a.m.. Police say residents were hearing gunshots coming from the inside of an adjacent apartment and the bullets were coming through the walls. As police officers and an Ashland County Sheriff's deputy entered the building, they heard gun hots coming from inside apartment A. The officers found the entry door barricaded so they provided cover as the occupants of apartment B evacuated, as well as the building's other residents. A cell phone dialogue was established with the 40-year-old man. At 3:49 a.m., he removed the barricade, exited the apartment unarmed, and was taken into custody. The body of the 33-year-old woman was located inside apartment A and a cause of death has not been determined, although she had a visible gunshot wound. The 40-year-old man is in custody at the Ashland County Jail but no charges have been filed as an investigation continues. Officers from the Ashland County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol provided perimeter security at the scene.
