MANSFIELD, OH - Inspired by the Columbus chapter, the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield has officially begun the "Coolest Dog In Richland County" competition, which members are hoping will raise enough money to purchase a new minibus for the Friendly House.

The Friendly House uses its current bus, which was purchased in the 1980s, to transport 28 kids from school to the Friendly House each day. When community members heard about the great cause, they started lining up to provide support.

"We are completely surprised by the outpouring of support," said Jessica Dulle, the Vice President of the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield. "The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield is turning 100 in June of 2020 and our mission is all about helping kids, so we wanted to do something that would make a big splash."

The contest is open to any Richland County resident over 21 years of age. It costs $10.00 to register a dog for the contest, which automatically earns that dog ten votes. Friends, family, and community members may pay $1.00 to vote for their favorite dog, and the winner will get all sorts of prizes. The winning pup even gets to help name a beer at the Phoenix Brewing Company.

The contest closes on Friday, April 25th, and is sponsored by Richland Bank, the Phoenix Brewing Company, WMFD TV, DRM, iHeart Media, Warren Rupp Inc., ESPN 106.7, Mix 106 WVNO, 99.3 The Light, and Dazzlehound Collars. Find more information on the contest here.
