MANSFIELD - Richland Academy Of The Arts announced Thursday the organization had received its largest individual donation in history of  $226,802 from the Doerman Trust on behalf of Neil Doerman.

The funds are designated to support Richland Academy of the Art's scholarship program. Richland Academy has awarded $625,000 in merit and needs-based scholarships to almost 4,000 students. The gift will help to ensure the longevity of the program for future generations.

The mission of Richland Academy of The Arts is to help provide people a place to explore the artist within them, regardless of a prohibitive financial situation.

The Academy's investment committee is working on developing an investment plan that will best use the donation. Additionally, the funds have allowed the Academy to reevaluate its policy on how funds are distributed, potentially opening up funds by removing age restrictions.
