ASHLAND, OH - One driver was transported to the hospital after a collision occurred between a GMC Envoy and a Western Star semi truck at the intersection of SR-89 and US-30 at 5:32 PM on Thursday afternoon.

Heath E. Hess, a 33-year-old from Polk, Ohio, was driving the semi northbound on SR-89 when he failed to yield at a stop sign, pulling into the path of a GMC Envoy driven by Heather A. Smith, a 46-year-old from Massillon Ohio. Smith struck the trailer of the semi, heavily damaging the front of her own vehicle. Smith sustained minor injuries from the collision. Hess was uninjured but was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.

SR-89 was shut down temporarily while crews cleared the area. Both the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ashland County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.
