"Any time they have the opportunity to compete, and they heard about trying to break records and stuff, these kids they have incredible competitive drives and we wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase their talents," Officer Chatman said.

Deputy Hosey from The Richland County Sheriff's Office said that overall, the students had a great time at the event.

"I was talking to them at lunch, if they weren't here today, out here participating, they'd probably have been sitting at home on the couch, playing video games, so we'd rather have them out here," Deputy Hosey said.
