National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Set For April 27

RICHLAND COUNTY, OH- National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is coming to Richland County in cooperation with Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, April 27.

At the event, participants can turn in expired or unused medications.  Operation Medicine Cabinet will then safely dispose of the drugs, helping to protect the local food and water supply as well as decreasing prescription drug abuse.

No personal information will be collected at the event.  The program is confidential.  However, it is requested that participants remove the labels on any prescription bottles.

Prescription pills, over-the-counter medications, medication samples, pet medications, or vitamins can all be disposed of at the event.  Participants cannot bring needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, aerosol cans, IV bags, hydrogen peroxide, bloody or infectious waste, empty containers, or personal products such as non medicated shampoo.

The event will last from 10am-2pm on Saturday, April 27 at the following locations:

Mansfield Police Department at Richland County Solid Waste Authority: 1125 National Parkway in Mansfield

Richland County Sheriff's Office: 597 Park Ave East in Mansfield

Bellville Police Department: 320 Bell Street in Bellville

Shelby Police Department: 31 Mack Avenue in Shelby
