ASHLAND, OH - It was an emotional day for family and friends of the late Senate President and former Marine Bill Harris as the Ashland Post Office was renamed in his honor.

Harris passed away in November of 2017, survived by several children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He accomplished many things in his lifetime, including the 23 years he served his country as a United States Marine. He had been twice awarded the Bronze Star and once given the Vietnam Medal of Honor.

After his military service he began a business, Bill Harris Dealerships, which would become one of the largest automotive dealerships in Ohio and which remains in the family to this day.

In order to honor his legacy, the Ashland Post Office has been re-named the Bill Harris Post Office and a plaque has been placed on the building.

The dedication began with a ceremony, including a Presentation of Colors by the Ashland VFW Post and speeches from several family members and politicians.
