MANSFIELD, OH - The Mansfield City School District has announced its intention to begin a search for a new superintendent.

Current Superintendent Brian Garverick, who has been with the district for over 20 years, will remain on the position until the Board of Education completes its search.

Once the search is complete, Garverick will begin work as a "Director of Alternative Learning" in the district on August 1st.

A professional search firm will be hired to assist the school district in finding a new superintendent, according to the Mansfield City School Board of Education.

The school board provided the following statement in regards to what Garverick's upcoming new position of Director of Alternative Learning entails:

There is a need to service some students in a less populated environment.  All children can learn.  However they do not all learn in the same ways or with the same resources.  We must meet the needs for all our students to have academic success.  We will once again have a traditional and an alternative learning environment to meet the needs of students we serve.
