MANSFIELD, OH - During Tuesday night's Board of Education Meeting for Mansfield City Schools, members of the public were invited to help welcome Stan Jefferson back to the school district in anticipation of becoming the school's new superintendent on August 1st.

"We are so very excited," said Renda Cline, Board President. "Mr. Jefferson has definitely been a team player all this time, and we're so glad that he has taken this opportunity to be our superintendent. We're really excited about his leadership and where he's going to take the district. He already knows so many of the staff members and he's been working with the district over the years. He definitely has the experience here."

After usual Board of Education meeting proceedings, Cline asked those in attendance to break for a 30-minute recess where they could meet Jefferson and get to know him before he takes the mantle of superintendent. Jefferson said that he was looking forward to working with all of the employees of the Mansfield City Schools district, as well as the Mansfield School Employees Association and community agencies alongside the board.

"If we really believe that it takes a village to raise a child - that is our concept - then we are going to have to wrap our arms and extend ourselves to that village and do the things that we need to do," Jefferson said. "Every child needs a champion. That champion is you and I. If we truly believe in that statement, that 'it takes a village to raise a child', then that's all of us. All of us are educators. From our social agencies to the people who work in these schools, all of us are working for the betterment of that child."

Jefferson, also affectionately referred to as "Coach J," joined the staff of the Ohio State University in 2004 and was previously a part of the Mansfield City Schools staff. Jefferson begins his new role as Superintendent on August 1st of this year.
