MANSFIELD,OH- Mansfield is seeing thousands flock to the area for events such as Inkcarceration, The Little Buckeye Children's Museum, Haunted Houses, Escape rooms and other attractions over the past year and that is exactly what Destination Mansfield hopes the trajectory continues.

The organization has seen an upward swing in people coming to Mansfield for events and the "blessing in disguise" wet spring has brought great crowds to the area events this summer.

"There was a lot of good things going on this year that were bigger then past years," said Lee Tasseff, President of Destination Mansfield." The races kind of dampened things but there has been restlessness of people wanting to get out and do things. It was just a matter of the weather cooperating."

Tasseff said there was always large events going on during the wet spring, whether it was racing, haunted events at the reformatory or conventions.

The returns for overnight accommodations has been great so far for the area with everything being a positive in the tourism department for the area.

" There is a lot of big things coming up that include Shawshank 25 and we just finished Inkcarceration that was off the hook compared to last year."

Later in the year the area will see a Studebaker Club, a national auto sport group and the Mansfield Barber Expo that will now be in august, instead of the winter giving more opportunities for people to come to the area. Though Tasseff said the biggest draw that brings people into the community is the Ohio State Reformatory.

Tasseff encourages community members to enjoy all the events that are only 15-20 minute drives in you're own backyard.
