Double Fatality Traffic Crash In Ashland County

ASHLAND COUNTY - Two southern Ashland County residents were killed in a one-vehicle crash that happened on State Route 511 in Green Township at approximately 2:12 a.m. Sunday.

A 2015 Ford Focus was southbound on State Route 511 when it went off the road to the right, struck a guardrail and overturned into a ravine.  Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

The occupants of the car were 37-year-old Lacy Kay Sprang, and 37-year-old Matthew Evans, both from Perrysville.  They were both pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of their injuries.

State Route 511 was close for approximately four hours while the scene was being processed.

Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Perrysville Fire and EMS, Hayesville Fire and EMS, the Ashland County Coroner’s Office and Ohio Edison.

Neither occupant is believed to have been wearing a safety belt in the crash, which is still currently under investigation.
