LEXINGTON, OH - For the second year in a row, the American Red Cross, in collaboration with IndyCar series driver James Hinchcliffe, will be holding a blood drive at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to collect over 65 blood donations. Hinchcliffe, an accomplished driver, knows all too well the need for blood donation after his close encounter in a crash that left him severely injured. Hinchcliffe ended up needing 22 pints of blood to stay alive, opening his eyes to the importance for blood donation.

The Red Cross is currently facing an emergency blood shortage, with blood being distributed throughout medical centers faster than what is being donated. The community is invited to join "the race to save lives" with Hinchcliffe on Saturday, July 27th from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday, July 28th from 8 AM to 1 PM at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, located at 7721 Steam Corners Road in Lexington.
