MANSFIELD, OH - A fundraiser was held at downtown Mansfield's Reindeer Grill for charity on Thursday, with members of the Mansfield Police Department stepping up to help gather donations. The event benefited the Friendly House of Mansfield, a United Way agency whose mission is to provide crime prevention and recreational programs to the community as a whole.

"The idea came from one of our servers, Jamie," said Lisa Powell, Owner of the Reindeer Grill. "She had done something similar in California, so she proposed the idea to us. The police were on-board for it, so we just moved forward with it."

The fundraiser, which was based on an idea called Tip-A-Cop, featured law enforcement "celebrity waiters" who waited on guests throughout the restaurant, refilling drinks and bringing items to each table, all while collecting "tips" which then went into the donation pool. All of the proceeds from the tips and 20% of what Reindeer Grill made during the event will go to the Friendly House.
