BUCYRUS, OH-  The 52nd Annual Bratwurst Festival returns to downtown Bucyrus on Thursday.  This year's theme is "Brattie Salutes of Veterans."

Assistant Festival Director and Public Information Officer, Kevin Myers said that it was easy for the team to choose veterans as this year's Bratwurst Festival theme.

"Each year we choose a theme, and a lot of the time the theme something funny or something in current events, and the board of directors met last fall for a wrap up of last year's festival and decided that we should salute our veterans.  We've never done that," Myers said.

Myers said that the festival is a beloved Bucyrus tradition.

"It's kind of like a homecoming," Myers said.  "People that grew up here and have moved away look forward to coming home this weekend.  It's the one chance that we can walk up and down the streets and see all of our friends and family that we haven't seen since last year."

The festival runs from August 15- August 17.  There is lots of food and fun as well as live music and parades each day of the festival, Thursday and Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 4pm.
