MANSFIELD, OH- During the Mansfield City Schools Board special meeting Tuesday night, the board talked about the district creating a five year plan.

"We are doing everything we can to raise student achievement, engage with the community, and to produce a very conducive school climate," said Stan Jefferson, Superintendent of Mansfield City Schools. "When you take those three goals and you edit strategies as you're looking over a five-year plan, we try to do everything we can to a complete, comprehensive school district serving some of the needs of our students."

Dr. Bobby Moore, Founder and President of the EPIC Impact Education Group, outlined steps the district will take at creating the plan that will be unveiled in August 2020. EPIC Impact Group is helping the district compile the plan by gathering information through surveys and holding focus groups.

According to EPIC Impact Education Group's website, the group is a national organization that partners with and provides strategic counsel to organizations for a variety of diffrent organizations to leverage strengths, accelerate growth, and increase performance for epic impact.

Moore led a focus group style meeting by asking questions to district adminstrators about what the current perspective of the district and what does the district want to look like going forward.

The agreement amongst the group was that the distrct needs to do a better job of highlighting success stories within the district and celebrating the diversity throughout the school system.

Moore had the district leaders look into the school system's mission statment and core values to see if anything matched what was being said in the collaborative meeting.

School Board members said they wanted to see the distrcit become a place where everyone wants to go to school and not a place where students have left for other schools.
