ASHLAND, OH - The owners of Uniontown Brewing Co. in Ashland received recognition for their efforts in growing the local economy.

On Friday, the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Columbus District Office and Congressman Bob Gibbs presented a Spark Award to both Uniontown Brewing Owners Doug and Anna Reynolds.

The Spark Award is given to small business owners who help spark economic development in their communities.

"It just blows me away, we are very excited about it," Anna Reynolds stated after the award presentation. "The Small Business Administration really helped get us going."

According to the Small Business Administration, Doug and Anna secured an SBA-granted line of credit through Huntington Bank to build their business.

A round table was held after the award ceremony with Economic Development representatives and elected officials. Topics that were discussed ranged from attracted small businesses to the City of Ashland, challenges facing the city, and what can be done to help current small business owners.

A tour wrapped up the afternoon event with tours of The Grooming Lounge, Fig & Oak, Ashland University, and Madame Bagnabit.

The couple bought the former Gilbert Furniture Store in July of 2016, and began renovating the 166-year-old facility into a microbrewery, taproom, and full service restaurant.

Uniontown Brewing Company opened in December of 2017.
