MSYO Fall Concert And Veteran's Day Events Make News

MANSFIELD, OH - The Mansfield Symphony Youth Strings will present “A Knight’s Journey,” a Fall Concert, this Sunday, November 10, at 3p.m. at the Mansfield Senior High School Auditorium.     

Under the direction of Anthony Springer, the concert will feature both classical and contemporary repertoire ending with OSU’s "Hang On Sloopy".

For those unfamiliar with his work, Springer is the orchestra director at Mount Vernon City Schools and has over fifteen years of string education experience.

The Pearl Conard Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield is proud to present "Written in Oya: Entangled Stories", an exhibition by Hale Ekinci.  Ekinci is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist with strong ties to her Turkish heritage. 

Focusing on personal history, cultural identity, gender politics, and craft traditions, her works vary from videos and fiber installation to embroidery paintings embellished with vibrant colors, patterns, and autobiographical relics.

Ekinci's exhibition is on now through December 3rd, on campus. 


Huron-Norwalk based Towne and Country Players has announced their 54th season of performances for the 2019-2020 season.  The annual Veterans Tribute Show is “Music Americana” and it is this Sunday, November 10th, at 3pm.

The 75-member Patriots Symphonic Band event will be held at the McCormick Junior High Theater in Huron. 

Tickets are free for Veterans!


The Mansfield Veteran’s Day Parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. Monday.  The parade will form at 10 a.m. on Marion Avenue, from the five-way light and will travel east Park Ave West to Central Park, ending at the gazebo.   

The Veteran's Day ceremony will start at the Gazebo at 11 am.

Between 30 to 35 units will march in the parade this year including several school marching bands representing Clear Fork, St. Peter's and Mansfield Sr. High, veteran’s groups, an assortment of fire trucks and military equipment and other area groups.

In case of rain, the Veteran’s Day service will be at AMVETS, Post No. 26, 1100 West Fourth St, Mansfield. 


And, the Ashland University Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host Kid Kulture and The Trio for a benefit concert and sharing of testimonies Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 8-10 p.m. in the Upper Chapel of the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel, 456 College Ave.

Kid Kulture and The Trio are Mansfield-based musicians with music that combines Jazz, electronic, and hip hop to create what it terms “electrojazzhop”.

The event is free and open to the public, though a freewill offering will be taken for students who plan to participate in the Dominican Republic Sports & Services Mission Trip in May.
