Dale A. Secrist, Sr., 82, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017. Born January 23, 1935 in Little Washington, Ohio, he was the son of George and Lula (Banks) Secrist.

 

 

 

Dale grew up in Little Washington and was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He was a hard worker, keeping numerous jobs through his life, and worked up until one year ago. He retired from PPG, but also worked for Crestwood Water Association as an excavator, Richland RV where he moved and set up campers and co-owned Marty's Ceramics along with his first wife, Martha. He served with the United States Air Force for 39 years including five years of active duty and 34 years as a reservist.

 

 

 

Dale was a member of Little Washington Congregational Church where he volunteered for numerous activities. He also served as a victim's advocate with the Prosecutors Office and was a volunteer for the March of Dimes and Special Olympics. He was also a member of the Lahm Retirees Shadow Flight, AMVETS Post #26, the Buckeye Conestoga Raiders and was a member of the Color Guard. Dale was happiest when he was traveling in his truck on the open road or spending time with family. He was a very outgoing and generous man who made friends easily and had a sense of humor like no other.

 

 

 

He was lucky in love ~ being blessed to find love twice in his life ~ with his first wife and mother of his children, Martha "Marty" and his current wife, Mara-Jean.

 

 

 

He is survived by his wife, Mara-Jean Cornell Secrist; his children, Bonnie (Brian) Schulties, Dale (Lisa Brosnan) Secrist, Jr. and Bryan (Destiny) Secrist; former daughter-in-law, Cheryl Wiggins; his "other" daughter, Rochelle (Jerry) Frame; step children, Candie Cornell, Dan (Emma) Cornell and Kirk (Freda) Cornell; grandchildren, Jason Schulties, Brent (Amy) Schulties, Nathan Schulties, Dustin (Brittany) Secrist, McKenzie Secrist and Jonathan Secrist; great grandchildren, Cassandra and Parker Schulties and Vincent and Marcella Secrist; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Secrist; a sister-in-law, Pat Secrist; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Secrist; a son, Douglas Secrist; a brother, James Secrist; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Secrist.

 

 

 

Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Little Washington Congregational Church conducted by Rev. David Root. Burial will follow in Little Washington Cemetery where full military honors will be presented. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at the church on Thursday.
