George E. Kinter, 79, of Crestline, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Avita-Ontario, Mansfield, after a sudden illness.

George was born in Wheeling, WV on May 9, 1938 to the late George R. and Clara Jo (McCloud) Kinter.  He married Freda Ruth Headley on June 16, 1970 in Bellaire and she survives him.

George was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and was involved with the prayer chain at church.  George retired from PPG Industries, Inc. Works #26, Crestline as a Storeroom Attendant after 31 years, retiring in 1989.  He served in the U.S. Army.  George was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

 

He is survived by his children, Steven G. Kinter, Hilliard, and Amanda S. Kinter, Crestline; five grandchildren, Aria Ray, twins, Mason Kinter and Madyson Kinter, Myleigh Kinter, Mia Kinter; his brothers, Robert and Beverly Kinter, California, Michael and Linda Kinter, Ohio; his sister, Margaret “Marnice” and Larry Gooch, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Ethan Kinter.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, Crestline.  Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM on October 8, 2017 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Gary Grant officiating. After the funeral service, Military Honors will be given by the U.S. Army and the Galion Crestline Veteran’s Military Funeral Detail at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy in care of the funeral home.
