ASHLAND, OH- The undisputed #1 team in the nation proved they deserved all 24 first place votes in this week's Division II women's college basketball rankings, as Ashland University destroyed visiting Walsh 92-50 Thursday evening.

The 42-point blowout victory marks the 10th time this season the Lady Eagles have defeated an opponent by 40 points or more. Playing a dominating style of basketball is something AU Jr. forward Andi Daugherty says has become a standard the team tries to live up to every game.

"We have a standard to what we play to and we're really confident right now," Daugherty says. "I don't want arrogance to be confused with confidence because that's not what our program's about, but we feel good going in to every game but we know we have to bring our best for the outcome to be what we want it to be."

The win wraps-up a second consecutive outright GLIAC championship for the Lady Eagles, who are a spotless 18-0 in league play this season. AU head coach Robyn Fralick says the accomplishment is "a badge of honor" and should be celebrated.

"To win the GLIAC, I mean, that's a challenge," says Fralick. "That's something we're really, really proud of because it's your course of work over a long period of time and it's a tough league to compete in."

Now at 26-0, the top-ranked Lady Eagles will have an opportunity to complete the first perfect regular season in program history with wins in their last two games. Ashland will travel to Findlay (13-13) on Saturday before finishing up the regular season at home on February 23 against Tiffin (6-17).
