BOWLING GREEN, OH- The Mansfield St.Peter's Spartans are in the same position they were a year ago, in the Division IV regional final.  They earned their way back by bouncing North Baltimore 72-45 in the Division IV regional semifinal at Bowling Green State University Tuesday evening.

St. Peter's got off to a slow start trailing 10-4 early in the first quarter, then proceeded to go on a 19-0 run to grab a 23-10 lead and never trailed after that.  The Spartans went into the locker room at the break 35-20, then to start the second half increased that to 39-20, to keep the Tigers back on their heels which Spartan coach Joe Jakubick says is always big.

"The fans are gonna get excited the players are going to play with more emotion when you make a couple of positive plays coming out of halftime.  So if you are able to do that, it's really tough psychologically a lot of times for the other team."

"Defensively, we just didn't get where we were supposed to be," said North Baltimore head coach John Kloepfer who's team bows out at 16-11. And when shots are not falling for us sometimes it wears on you a little bit.  I don't think it has anything to do with the kids, they (St. Peter's) are a good team, they are just a good team."

Once again as has been the habit all season, the Spartans put four players in double-digit scoring led by Jared Jakubick with 21 points.  Elijah Cobb was next in line with 18, Tyson Kent had 13, Mason Campbell 11.

With the win, Mansfield St. Peter's moves on to the Division IV regional final at Savage Arena at the University of Toledo on Friday night.  Their opponent will be Delphos St. John's.  The Blue Jays (20-4) knocked off Holgate by a final score of 40-25. Should the Spartans win, their state semifinal will be next Thursday, March 23rd at 5:15 pm.  If successful, it would be St. Peter's first trip back to the final four since 1990 when they fell in Columbus to Springfield Catholic Central.
