ASHLAND, OH-  The AU women's basketball team continues with preparation for their National quarterfinal next Tuesday in Columbus against West Texas A&M at 7 pm.  One of the teams best Laina Snyder and youngest, freshman Renee Stimpert talk about playing relatively close to home and being able to rise up and meet any challenge thus far.

"I think that's just what good teams do," says Snyder.  "We try to be the aggressor, but if somebody comes at us, that's something that we take personal and we run with it and don't let it happen again."

"I think we trust each other," says Stimpert.  I feel like we are all a family.  So the trust we have in each other and just to know we are going to push through and pull that lead.  I think it's just the overall trust and commitment to push each other to be the best we can do."

The venue will be a familiar one, Ohio Dominican University where both Snyder and Stimpert have played with ODU being members of the GLIAC.  "Yea it's a little bit of a home-court advantage for us since we've played there every year of our careers," says Snyder.  It's cool that we get to have our fans follow us down there it's a defiantly a home court advantage with the atmosphere we have."

Stimpert feels pretty much the same way.  "I feel like it's a comfortable atmosphere being so close to home all the people coming down to support us that will get heck tick, but I'm used to it in this Ashland community with all the support we have.  In think on that floor, we will be comfortable but we just gotta come out and play."

When asked about dealing with all of the glad-handing and backslapping, Snyder says it's nice but, "I think you can use it as motivation to give you confidence, but also ignore it enough that it does not get to your head and to know you still have a lot you have to work on.  We get that in film, we get the bad and we get the good."

A send-off is planned for the team for Sunday at 3:15 pm.
