SHELBY, OH-  At 12-0 and yet to be challenged the Shelby Whippets are prepping for a return trip to the Division 4 regional final this Friday at Ashland's Community Stadium.  Through 12 games the Whippets continue to roll over everybody regardless of opponent.  Head Coach Erik Will says every week to this point his team has had no trouble getting ready week-by-week.

"The great thing for our group is we have a bunch of seniors that are leaders.  Their attention to detail is good.  As long as we continue to do that we're gonna be fine. I really don't have to give them a pep talk."

On Friday at Ashland's Community Stadium, the Whippets will have another go around with Bellevue a team Shelby defeated 46-0 back in week four.  Bellevue earned their way to the final by downing Clear Fork at Arlin Field last Friday 21-13.

"They are doing some things differently," says Will.  We didn't get to see the Francis (Treston) kid a lot at QB because he wasn't healthy.  So the dynamics they are giving our defense is significantly different than the first time around.  They are 7-1 since the last time we played them.  You look at their schedule They have three regular-season losses against teams that were a combined 30-0.  So they are good and we know that.  There are eight teams left and they're one of the eight and if we don't prepare they can beat us."

"They are going to play out of their minds," says tight end Carter Brooks.  "They don't want to go home, we don't want to go home.  We are not going to see the same Bellevue team we saw week four.  We are prepping for a stronger team."

I would say Bellevue is significantly better than when we played them the first time around," says Will.  When we beat they fell to 3-2 and to see the momentum they have built the last seven weeks is impressive."

"We're going to play them as if we haven't," says Brooks.  If we go out and do what we need to do we'll be confident and should be fine."

This will be the third time the Whippets have advanced to the regional.  In 1998, Shelby fell at Massillon to West Branch.  Last season the Whippets also lost at Massillon to Steubenville.  Bellevue has won three regional championships in 2012, 2001, and 1996.
